sustainability Tod Consulting is introducing sustainability practices to reduce consumption and material waste and to decrease our carbon footprint: Paper is our largest consumable so we use both sides before sending it to our recycler. We’ve set up our printers to promote this activity and have dedicated printer drivers on each computer with options to make paper reuse easy Each of our new and future vehicles will have a fuel consumption of 7.6litres/100km (combined cycle) or less We’ve switched our office electricity to be supplied 100% from GreenPower sources
For many years, the scientific community has suggested that ongoing use of carbon-based fuels like coal and oil are building up carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. They advise that increases in carbon dioxide will raise the planet’s temperature, resulting in the melting of polar ice caps, rising sea levels and climate change. There is a great deal of discussion lately about the validity of this theory, with some people arguing that climate change may just be a natural cycle of the planet. At Tod Consulting, we believe that regardless of these arguments, it is unwise to pollute our environment and overuse finite resources. We believe that our use of resources should be sustainable. Today’s Engineers are taking sustainability and climate change seriously: Civil and Structural Engineers are implementing rainwater harvesting systems in new building developments. Electrical and Chemical Engineers are developing and improving alternative energy sources such as solar, wind and tidal power. Currently, there are wind farms across Europe producing electricity. Electronic Engineers are continually developing microprocessors and circuit boards that use less energy. Mechanical and Process Engineers are finding ways to scrub pollutants from waste stacks in smelters and industrial plants.
