our past

Our founding directors, Stefan and Phil, moved to the Sunshine Coast in the 1980s and managed the respective Noosa and Maroochydore offices of the Tod Group. The 1980s was a period of strong growth for the region. Many of the Sunshine Coast's hi-rises and land developments were designed by the Tod Group.

In the early 2000s, Stefan, Phil and Michael Ryan, purchased the Sunshine Coast practice from the Tod Group

In 2007, Michael left the practice to move back to his home town of Toowoomba. Chris Dowding joined the practice after working as a Senior Engineer with AECOM

In 2008, Doug Reynolds joined the practice, after working at Noosa Shire Council for nine years as Works Planning Engineer and then Manager - Works Operations.  Chris and Doug joined Stefan and Phil as directors. A new company structure was set up in 2008 to reflect changes in ownership and the practice became known as Tod Consulting. Phil has since semi-retired, and is a part-time consultant to Tod Consulting.

In 2009, Tod Consulting commenced serving Central and Northern Queensland, providing engineering advice for the Kestrel Mine extension and Cannington mine, for Redpath Mining. In late 2011, Tod Consulting commenced operations in Mackay

It’s an exciting time at Tod Consulting. Our services have grown to include design and project management of bridges & small infrastructure, along with engineering services for the mining and civil construction industries. We provide design & engineering advice for streetscapes and hard landscaping projects. We're also designing water senstive urban design (WSUD) carparks. Our structural renewal engineers have provided:- engineering design and advice for structural alterations to reinforced concrete buildings & steel framed buildings; structural assessments and strengthening designs for multi-storey buildings; and repair designs for buildings suffering from concrete cancer.

Our Todwiki allows us to share knowledge and experience across our team.

We use sustainable practices to reduce consumption, material waste and our use of carbon-based energy.

We will continue to provide consulting engineer solutions for Queensland communities. We will develop systems that allow us to better serve a wider geographic area of the State.

The methods we employ will evolve with advances in technology. We anticipate that in time Tod Consulting will provide solutions as three-dimensional electronic models to be merged with the models of other professionals like Architects and Mechanical Engineers. This technology has been used for many years in the aircraft industry, and is beginning to be seen in the construction industry. The result will be a highly coordinated design that allows projects of excellent quality at lower cost.
